“Sowle Centre (pronounced ‘Soul’) is a non profit organisation with the aim of educating higher functioning children with Down Syndrome and other Special Educational Needs like Autism, Global Development Delay, Speech Apraxia to name but a few, to the highest possible level attainable by each pupil. Our aim is to grow the strong points and nurture the weak points of each child as well as to integrate therapies into learning time.”
Sowle Centre had a fundraising cycle challenge on 11 May 2024. Team BFC, represented by Tonie van Benoni, was privileged to enter the cycle challenge as well as to donate towards this closed event (by invite only).
The purpose of the fundraiser was to provide finance for a number of pupils to participate in a National Special Needs School sports event that is to be held in East London. The school participated last year but the pupils were placed in dilapidated accommodation and left there. The funds raised through this cycle challenge will provide those attending this year with suitable accommodation and food.
Any remaining funds will then be put towards a Skills Development Centre and a sporting facility at the school!!!
Should you feel led to contribute towards this worthy project, any contributions would be well received by Sowle Centre. They are a registered NPO / PBO and will be able to issue Section 18a Tax Certificates for any donations given.
